It seems odd that so many significant fires have ignited along the same stretch of road within such a short amount of time. Fortunately no deaths have been reportedly caused by the fires, but they have been detrimental to air quality and traffic flow.

July 6, 2012: Former Butte Knit mill - The site remains a health hazard today.

October 16, 2012: Pat Tinsley Used Cars

December 6, 2012: BMW Manufacturing Co. factory

December 10, 2012: Platronics Seals mill

Another mill in Spartanburg County (not along I-85) was massively engulfed by flames on Saturday, December 9, 2012.

Fires are unpredictable where they occur. Whenever they may occur, crews will do their best to control the fire, reduce the risks threatening safety and health, and investigate the source of the fire.

One more for your list. Not in July but pretty close. There was a fire at Leigh Fibers in the Wellford area on June 22
