I love to go out there hiking because the scenery is great and I rarely ever see anyone else. Great place to soak up nature and get some solitude.

Read about that last month and think that it's a well deserved honor.

Unfortunately, many people in the Upstate don't realize how beautiful of an area they live in and how much of an economic asset that beauty can be. So, while the gorges area is protected, much of the rest of Oconee County, especially along Hwy 11, seems to look worse and worse every time I drive through.

That is from The Last Resort, not Hotel California.

Default Jocassee

I have been there on lake excursions and hiking the Foot Hills Trail. A beautiful place and we are lucky to have it. If you can ever do this, take the HorsePasture Road to Jump Off Rock and view Lake Jocassee from that vantage point. Beautiful. A pontoon boat ride with one of the pontoon boat excursions will take you to see some beautiful waterfalls. Just amazing, with all the rain last year.
