That list above does not have the Pelham Rd Cinemas (torn down) and the movie theater (torn down) that used to exist on the lot on Wade Hampton between WHHS and Taco Bell. Also their was the Plitt Cinema inside Greenville Mall that opened with the mall in 1978. I remember seeing Superman (Christopher Reeve) there as a child when it first opened. It was located in the mall entrance next to Montgomery Ward when Wards was just a one story structure.

Please read the opening comment. "they took us to main street one night to a movie theatre. " Thus the reason my list did not include those above.

Well, the OP did say 90's and I do not believe any I mentioned were open in the 90"s. Bell Tower could have still been around and the ones in front of WH High School but I really don't think so. So the mystery still remains.

Traveling in the waybackmachine...wasn't The Roxy a downtown movie theater, circa 1950's or earlier?

Default Also Movie Theater called The Royal

For those who frequent the Coach House Resturant in Simpsonville in their lobby are older photos not only of Simpsonville but several set in early fifties showing a girl/guy paying to go into the ROYAL theater.
I believe it was downtown because I have not heard of any movie theaters in downtown S'ville.

Back in the 90's Coffee Underground had a small theater room that showed movies on weekends. I think it was on Friday nights. That's the only place I can think of on Main Street during that time period where movies were shown.

I'm pretty sure it was the Fox that we went to in the summer of 1990. That picture jives with my memory of it.

It's crazy they had movie threatres downtown when not much going on down there and now that the downtown is vibrant they have none. but I guess they weren't competing with Regal back in the day.

Did a bit of research. The Fox was the last downtown theater and closed in 1978.

Oh yes there was a movie in downtown Simpsonville. It was located right close to The Ice Cream Station.
