It was probably Obama's fault.

That's what I was wondering - the two times my wife and I tried to go in there there was literally standing room only.

You sure about that: http://m.wyff4.com/news/Rumors-swirl...j/-/index.html Notice no building permit has been filed.

Closing? And after all the money the city spent to turn Brown Street aesthetically into a "piano alley" (nevermind it was a poor attempt). Wow.

What a bummer. They posted on their Facebook that they were closed for renovations and that more information would be availabel soon. I thought it was odd when I saw it, but I shrugged it off.

My hubby and I enjoyed our visit last spring. We don't have a lot of expendable income but I really enjoyed the food and the drinks. I thought it was a little on the loud side for the size of the venue, but the drinks outweighed that. Lol. It's so hard to find good bartenders in the upstate.

Very true. There is a blonde guy at High Cotton (his name escapes me) that knows his stuff. He actually knows the difference between an Old Fashioned and a Sweet Old Fashioned.

Holy mother, I must avail myself upon his services posthaste!

I'm quite fond of the bartenders at Soby's as well. Their Old Fashioned is interesting but good. I'd never had a kumquat before and certainly not in a alcholic beverage. Their 'Ashley Rose' is splendiferous as well.

Gas lamps are still burning, the menu is still posted on the outside wall, and no "closed" notice on the door. But doesn't mean anything by itself.

Check him out. He does a mean Aperol Spritz as well! Kumquat in an old fashioned....in place of the muddled cherry? Sounds good....real good!
