Does anyone know what happens to all the un purchased Sunday papers? I know they pick them up on Monday morning from the stores that sell them.

Are you asking so you can get the coupon inserts? I know a few people that will go to a store on Mondays or Tuesdays and the stores will give them the inserts. From my understanding, the store only needs to turn in the the front page to get credit.

Default Sunday Newspapers in Stores

As a newspaper carrier who delivers in stores I can tell you what happens to the ones that are not sold. We return them and if our return numbers do not match our returns, we pay for them. As for the coupons, the Sunday returned papers are checked to make sure these are still in the paper and if they are not we are held responsible and can either be charged for the whole paper or if it happens too much our contract can be terminated.

My complaint is the couriers are not always putting all of the inserts and coupons in the Sunday paper. And that is one of the main reasons people pay more to purchase the Sunday paper is because of the circulars. They used to hire inserters to put together the Sunday paper but apparently they don't anymore. I like to see the Best Buy add and the Belk and Macy's add, among others. And they are not always there anymore. And I am referring to both the Greenville News and the Charlotte Observer. Very inconsistent.

Many of the QT stores carry the Sunday Greenville News all through the week if you missed it on Sunday. But I am aggravated they no longer make room for the Charlotte Observer, which is now only sold at Publix, along with the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal. And I still miss the Columbia State paper and the Atlanta paper being sold in Greenville.

If you have a smartphone (and who doesn't these days...), you can download the Flipp app that let's you see a large number of circulars (but not every store) in the Sunday paper for free.

Shop Local is a site I use, I would guess they may have an app for that too.
