hi folks, just moved over here from the uk, and haveing a hard time getting credit, any body got ideas on how to get credit especially if they came from the uk thanks kev
Have you tried going to a credit union and applying for a credit card? (Greenville Federal Credit Union, CPM Credit Union, Greenville Heritage Credit Union, among others)
I'm not sure about someone in your situation but I think you'd have more luck at a credit union (nonprofit) than a bank.
I'm going to go against the flow and ask why do you need credit? I live my life without credit and have no issues whatsoever. You can buy a car without credit (cash!), a house without credit (called manual underwriting), rent a place without credit (called downpayment, etc).
My advice - save money, budget, spend less than you earn and pay cash for everything. It's an amazing feeling and you can get some serious bargains when you wave benjamin franklins around instead of financing it.
