Rock Springs Baptist Church in Easley which isn't large enough as it is will be adding a recreation facility building next to the church that will have everything from an exercise room to a cafeteria to basketball courts to a twelve lane bowling alley. This is still a church right? How long until it becomes the size of IKEA?

This is kind of tongue-in-cheek, but in my original hometown, we used to refer to the larger Baptist churches as, "Fort God", "Six Flags Over Jesus", "The church that ate West Mobile", etc. NOT meant to offend, just to poke good-natured fun!

This church is growing, which is a good thing, right? That means they are brining people to Christ. This is a large traditional Christ led church. I don't see anything wrong with what they have done or are going to do. I say, Praise God for what they are doing in this community and for the work of God!

I agree and at least the church is a nice looking addition to Easley.

My only problem with the church having so many facilities is that they begin to isolate themselves from the rest of the world. When they can go bowling, work out, or get a latte at church, then they quit patronizing businesses in the community where they need to be reaching people. Outsiders won't necessarily want to go to church to bowl.

That may be true, but we only have 1 Bowling Alley in Easley & they serve alcohol. People who do not agree with that will probably go. It will be good for the youth & give them somewhere to go as we don't have many hang out places for youth. The assisted living facilities could take their residents there also. Just a thought.

Rock Springs Baptist Church is expanding its ministry in many ways. I do not mind expanding into different ways to minister as long as the congregation does not steer away from the gospel.

I just spoke to one of the members there & he said they have been talking about this for years. He's not sure it's going to happen. I guess time will tell.
