Hi,

I was just wondering if anyone could offer any recommendations for an honest and reasonably priced A/C repair company that won't try to pull one over on you? I'm in Greer and would prefer a local, smaller company rather than a large chain company. The a/c coming out of the vents in the house is not very cool to the touch and the a/c has been running constantly, day and night. The other day the thermostat was set to 75 but the temperature stayed at 77 even though it kept running the whole day, and it never got below 77 in the house. The unit was installed in 2007 and had a tune up last year. Our power bills have doubled this year. I found a company called A/C Medic in Greer that had good reviews so I scheduled a service call with them but just wanted to know if there were any other suggestions in case I need a back up? This place charges $75 for a service call which seems about average I think.

Tuck and Howell is not a small company but they are awesome. We also have a service contract and they have always been fair and reasonable. Their techs really know their stuff and if your not happy, they work with you until you are. I've used them for over 10 years and have no complaints, even when I needed a new system.

I know you asked about the Greer area but if anyone needs someone in the Simpsonville area, please call Southern HVAC. One company told me I'd need a new AC unit. I called and got a second opinion from Southern HVAC and they fixed my existing unit for little money and told me no way did I need a new one.

I can't say enough good things about those people.....so honest.

I'm glad you posted this because I was going to start looking for someone to come do a checkup on our system.

I just had a new unit installed to replaced a 30 year old system. I shopped around and ended up using Bentley Heating and Air. Very fair price, good work, and located in Taylors.

Tuck and Howell does have good service. But if you want to save 20-30% on your new system, I know an independent HVAC installer who is in charge of HVAC at a major manufacturer in Greer. He prefers to install Trane systems, but will do whatever you like. PM me for info.

Well just had a guy from A/C Medic come by and quote me $900 for the repair. The evaporator coil in the air handler is leaking and needs replaced. The part is $600 according to him and then the other $300 is for labor and new refrigerant. Apparently the R22 refrigerant is very expensive because they no longer make it.

I tried calling a number I found for them but it's not working. Do you have their number?

Default Carolina Heating

I had an exceptional experience with Carolina Heating (864-232-5684). I had a 10 year-old a/c unit that had stopped cooling; Carolina Heating was prompt, very helpful/innovative in solving and had excellent follow-up. I have used them for all HVAC issues since (three years).
