Maybe its just me but with value of that ten acres, wouldn't it make sense to sell that property and build ten Libraries in other parts of the county where the land is cheaper and Library's may actually be needed? Just saying.

Why isn't it needed?

From the press release

The Five Forks area is not only the most densely populated area of Greenville County without a public library within two to three miles, it also is the area with the highest projected annual population growth compared to other existing branch service areas.

This is also one of the highest income area's in the state of SC, couldn't this money be spent in a more needy area? The library system made a great investment years ago, I don't see squandering that investment building on land that valuable. Sell it and use the proceeds to purchase less expensive land down the road a little and pay for the building. I just think it would be better use of our tax dollars.

Wouldn't building one, two or three in low income area's make better use of the money? Hell I have a car and can drive to Mauldin or Simpsonville if I need to, just like most folks in the Five Fork area.

QUESTION: Why do we need librarians and libraries anymore now that we have the Internet?

Hadn't noticed this thread before, but good news having a library at Five Forks. With the growth in that area, it's long overdue IMO.
