Somehow parking some temporary carnival ride in the middle of a downtown area seems rather tacky. Unless it was a large permanent version similar to the big ferris wheel at Myrtle Beach.

That is my thinking as well. If the ferris wheel is permanent, has a cool design, landscaped around, etc it will be cool. It should have a name too (ie: The Spartan Flyer or something.....and a logo.....be uplit at night.....become a true attraction).
Sadly, my gut tells me this will be a typical carnival ferris wheel with plastic seats in various colors and large electrical cables running along the ground to power it.....trip over them, just like at the fair.
I would not mind seeing a more permanent Ferris wheel in Spartanburg if it was included in a fun park similar to Frankie's Fun Park and larger in size. Having a carnival Ferris wheel would get by for the season, but it is something I would not want to have as a permanent fixture.
If Spartanburg had more to see, I would support one. I would like to see Spartanburg vertically grow some.
