What happened to the Blue Jay gas station on the corner of Woodruff Road and Garlington Road? It closed down yesterday. Wonder what will go there?

I remember somebody said that the city wants to enlarge that intersection and needed some of his property. Not sure if that was the reason though.

It's nothing special. It's going to be like what happened with Capri's at I-85 and Woodruff Road.

I assume that the owner decided to stop competing with himself across the street.

He owns the Red Robin across the street too? I don't see how they will put any retail stores in that spot?

That's what I've always understood. That assertion is supported by the fact that both stores sell the exact same product, focusing on ethanol-free gas, which is a somewhat rare commodity around here, as well as very similar signage etc. Greenville County property records show different owners for the two properties (corporate/business entities, not individuals) but sharing the same P.O. box address in Mauldin.

When we moved here 10 years ago Blue Jay was a closed Exxon station and it sat unused for years before Red Robin bought it.
