I was trying to find a certain chip with my lunch (pop chips) - I'm in the store for 10 min and I cannot find ANY chips - I ask a Bi-Lo associate "where is the chip aisle?" - answer: "ummm...we don't have a chip aisle - all chips are at the end of EVERY aisle" - so I ask, "where can I find pop chips?" - associate, "I have no idea..." and walks away - I eventually find only one variety

My SIL lives in River Reserve - this Bi-Lo is the closest grocery store for her family - she despises it - she's bought several items past their due date

the prepared food is TERRIBLE - Publix (even Ingles) is MUCH better

Bloom stopped opening stores after 2007. Several stores were performing badly.

I do not know where specifically where Publix could have considered or could be considering for a store location. Highway 153 west of Hood Road and Three Bridges Road or Anderson Road at South Carolina Highway 86 could be potential locations.

They have moved many of the aisles inside the store very close together to vacate much of the right side of the store. Produce still hasn't been relocated, but a temporary wall has been erected to close off most of the right side of the existing store as part of the remodel.

They've also closed off the parking lot access from Cooper Road and look to have started tearing up the parking lot pad for the gas station construction.

I am eager to see the Ingles remodel finished - their newer stores in Western NC are very nice.

On another note, Nagoya relocated from a small strip center to the newer outparcel strip mall adjacent to Walmart. There seems to be some activity in that newer outparcel strip center in some of the other vacant shops as well.

Ingle's #73 is being rebuilt into a completely new store indeed. The existing Ingle's #73 will be razed and gone when the new store is completed.

I look forward to seeing the new Ingle's #73 next year. It will be a nice store.

Ingle's #38, 2795 East Main Street, Spartanburg, South Carolina 29307-1247, and Ingle's #42, Whatley Square, 116 West Butler Road, Mauldin, South Carolina 29662-2535, should undergo similar rebuilds in the near future.

Ingles was starting to go the way of Bilo, but they wised up. Good to see they're adapting and building new stores.

Ingle's has not built a new store in South Carolina in ten years. It has been active building new stores in Georgia, North Carolina, and Tennessee. More new stores in South Carolina should be on the way.

When I left Winn Dixie in 1993, WD had begun a slow decline, but I thought that Ingle's with their small 1970's "disco" stores was a goner for sure, boy was I wrong! I don't think Ingle's will ever be a publix, but they are a player these days.Bilo who was on top back then, appears to be in dire straits these days.

Trivia question: Where was the last Ingle's disco store and when did it close? or is there still one out there somewhere?

The last disco era Ingle's could be debatable. I know Ingle's #29, Moonville Plaza, 7616 Augusta Road, Piedmont, South Carolina 29673-9652, is the oldest operating store in South Carolina without a major remodel or update.
