Free Outdoor Target Shooting Locations/Outdoor Shooting Ranges? (Greenville, Pickens: 2015, price)

My wife and I would like to practice but don't want to pay the cost for indoor range.

Does anyone know any legal, well known outdoor ranges or just general outdoor locations (doesn't have to be a range) for target shooting in the Greenville area?

Any help would be appreciated.

I'm really just looking for open land that I can LEGALLY shoot in. Not an official 'range'.

The SC Department of Natural Resources has a free shooting range in Pickens.

You could also join the Greenville Gun Club. I am a member there and I really enjoy the facilities. The initial outlay is a little pricey (Non-refundable application fee ($100), One-time initiation fee ($250), Annual Dues ($150)), but then just $150 a year after that. If you plan on being in the Greenville area for a good while, it may be worth looking into. The last time my dad and I went to Allen Arms, we walked out $90 lighter. That made up my mind to join GGC.

I think it was closed for a couple days and the site has not yet been updated...
