It is an awesome announcement indeed. I think it will be locating in the former J.C. Penney/Nuvox/Windstream building at 2 North Main Street, Greenville, South Carolina 29601-2719.
$5m in incentives??????????? For a company that will most likely not be around in 5 years. This is too easy to duplicate for proven players such as Fitbit etc.......
How do you know they won't be around in five years? Crystal ball somewhere? I'm pretty sure the incentives are only given out if the jobs are actually created. The company continues to grow at a rapid pace.
So.....a company that stores medical records on an Iphone? Do you think large healthcare provider don't already have medical records stored electronically? In other words, this is a easy to duplicate app which sounds much more than it really is.
No, fitbit is not coming here........unfortunately, we are not a technology hotbed.
I don't think you really understand how Chartspan and their app works. Try again.
Interesting.........after reading through some of your previous comments, I see why you think that any Greenville company is destined for greatness. After all, you argued that Certus was going to be a major SC bank even when others suggested that it was failing.
From Chartspan's website.............."ChartSpan is a FREE, secure app empowering patients with the ability to organize, request and send their entire family’s health records (immunizations, medical, dental, vision, prescriptions, over-the-counter medications, x-rays, lab results, etc.) from their smartphone."
1. I am not sure how many folks want to walk around with their medical history on their smartphone.
2. This is easy to duplicate and is already duplicated by many large healthcare systems.
3. Someone like Express Scripts could easily create an app and is better funded.
So, no, I don't see a reason why this company has a strong future. Investors pledged $3.2m, the state pledged $5m........that is not a good ratio to have when funding. We as a city/state are wasting $5m to be able to say......."hey, we have a growing tech/start up scene". Meanwhile, in Columbia, IBM just opened a new building............count me as one who would rather see IBM than a smartphone app company.
You understand this is a program/app that integrates all those different EMR systems, as well as paper records, to simplify things for the patient(s)?
Usually incentives are the waiving or reductions of taxes and other governmental fees for X years and not outright giving money to companies. Any place we can read exactly what the incentives are? ChartSpan is investing $3.2 million into Greenville/SC.
