I want to switch banks. I'm a long time customer of Wells Fargo but wanted to go with another bank for personal reasons. Any recommendations? I was thinking TD Bank.

Depends upon how large you want.

Been very happy with Suntrust for many years (business and personal), and also with Palmetto (personal).

Suntrust is regional, but Palmetto is local so they have fewer branches and don't have ATMs outside of the area.

For our purposes, Palmetto Bank has been great. We like that they are local/regional. We've had them for a year - since we moved here - and no issues at all yet.

Thanks for the responses!

All I'm looking for is enough branches/ATMs around the Greer/Taylors/Greenville area and that the bank has a good mobile checking app that includes check deposits. So the bank can either be big or small.

I'm happy with South State Bank (formerly South Carolina Bank & Trust). I would avoid Sun Trust and Bank of America at all costs.

BoA has the worst customer service in the world, and Sun Trust is no friend to local SC businesses:

We've been a member with TD since they took over Carolina First, and have been very pleased.

Although I am unable to recommend a specific financial institution for banking, I do advise choosing one that encourages savings, has accounts or incentives specific to your financial lifestyle or behavior, and is convenient for your needs.

Is there a credit union you can join? Credit Unions often offer much better customer service coupled with low loan rates.

Agreed... I use Sharonview but I would suggest that you investigate Greenville Federal Credit Union.

From their website... The Greenville Federal Credit Union charter allows anyone who lives, works, worships or attends school in Greenville County to become a member. Membership is also available to relatives of members.
