Hi everyone,

I thought Inman was a separate city; however, it looks like it's part of Spartanburg; and districts 1 and 2 of Spartanburg schools are in Inman. Can you please clarify? I just received a job offer and was actually down in the area. Sorry for the stupid question. I heard districts 1 and 2 were good, and also that Inman schools are good, but I thought Inman was a separate city.

Thanks,

Kim

It is part of Spartanburg County. There can be several small towns within a particular County here in NC and SC. Inman is very country, a nice small town in the foothills of the "upstate" of SC. Many other nice towns in the upstate. Greer, Traveler's Rest, Landrum, etc. Search for towns that run off the interstate, I-26 or Rt. 25. Both run pretty much north and south; and Greenville/Spartanburg Airport (GSP) is a nice airport easy to get in and out.

Yes, Inman is a small city with its own mayor and city council that is within Spartanburg County. Spartanburg County has seven school districts, and parts of Inman are within both Districts 1 and 2. Also keep in mind that like many cities/towns in South Carolina, you may have homes that have Inman addresses that are not technically within Inman city limits - meaning your services will be provided largely by the county, you will only vote for county council and not city council, etc.

What city or town will you be working in? Will make a difference where you live of course, and what kind of amenities you want. Inman has some very nice areas, the town looks a bit sad, many small towns have their share of economic woes. But the land area of Inman is very spread out. Yes, GSP airport is very pleasant, easy in and out, and undergoing nice expansion with smaller airlines coming in. Southwest now flies out of GSP.

Hopefully, you can work with a Realtor who has lived and worked in your designated area and knows his/her backyard real well. I used to do a lot of corporate relocation work, and it is very important to get the client situated so the family can assimilate comfortably into the new area. Best of luck to you.

Thanks, everyone! I appreciate the feedback. I will be working at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center - it's really nice. They set us up with a nice realtor who took me around and showed me lots, which was great. Can't wait to get started down in the area (used to live in Beaufort, SC and loved it!).

Spartanburg District One schools covers Inman's schools. The district extends to New Prospect, the north side of Lake Bowen, and east to Lake Bowen. Boiling Springs elementary and middle schools, located in District Two, have an Inman address.

You'll be working at Regional?

Inman is about 20 minutes away.

Luckily, working at Regional, you can live just about anywhere in Spartanburg County. Regional is pretty centrally located in Spartanburg.

What type of area are you looking at living in? If you want to be in the country, there's always Landrum, Inman, Campobello, Cowpens, etc. If you want to be in an area close to shopping Boiling Springs and Spartanburg are better. They're all fairly close to Regional. Of course actually living in Spartanburg City will have you closer, but you have quite a few options.

Also... If you want your children to go to a small school district, then District 1 is good. If you want them to go to a large district, then District 2 is good.

I found this post answered my questioned as to if Inman was a separate city or part of Spartanburg. We were considering the City, but it was just to large for me to feel comfortable in. Tomorrow a work associate is showing husband around Inman and the Woodfin Ridge area. I will be traveling there next week if he thinks this will be a better small town fit for me.

Your thoughts on if small town "fits" the description of Inman? Boiling Springs is on the list now too.
