So next month is the move we've been putting off for one reason or another. I didn't live in Greer long enough to really get to know the Greenville area very well. What area's to stay away from.
For example we found a house for rent in City View off highway 25. I'm not familiar with City View at all.
I know the Pelham area can be busy but the apts there seems to be decent enough. I know Century Drive/ circle is a bad area as well as Lowndes Rd is a bad place as well.
City view is on Greenville west side which is generally not as nice as the east side. The Pelham road Apts near east north street are old and while cheap, attract lower income folks. There's been a little more crime in that area than in Eastside in general, just due to high concentration of people. If I was younger I might tolerate it, but I'm older now and would avoid.

In the late 90's when I first came here I lived in Lakewood At Pelham - which is called "Views On Pelham" now. And honestly, I'd steer clear of them... If you're young, just starting out and just looking for a cheap place to hang your hat for a few months, then yeah they'd be ok. But not anything long-term...
The area around there is nice though, just not those apartments.
Beacon Ridge is a good older apartment complex at the corner of Pelham and Haywood. Large floor plans and good location, near the mall and not far from downtown. the apartment complex has more trees than most of the new ones.
The convergence of Cedar Lane Road, Farr's Bridge Road, Hunt's Bridge Road, Sulphur Springs Road, and West Parker Road is not a bad area. Cedar Lane Road near West Blue Ridge Drive could have issues.

Thank you for posting this- I get a bit annoyed when people post to avoid whole areas that I know have some lovely homes and neighborhoods. In addition, there are some that may have had a less than stellar reputation in the past that are good areas to invest right now.
ATL Fan always has new ideas for revitalizing Berea if you glance at his thread. He is indeed correct part of this area needs clean up, and he suggests new retail and restaurants that could enhance the trade area. In addition to economic development, also residential upgrades and reduction in crime may be needed in parts of this area.
