There are several good Eclipse threads here with some great info, it would benefit everyone to keep all the info in one place.
I don't think I heard from you about this...
Anyway, why not.
Yac.

Has anyone heard what the school district plans to do during the Eclipse? This is an obvious great teaching opportunity. I just wonder of the district will purchase glasses for every student. That would be a lot.

On another note...BMW is shutting down production for the Eclipse and is handing out glasses to everyone who wants to view during that time period.

Interesting article about the nation being "paralyzed" during the upcoming Eclipse.

They actually passed a law allowing school to start earlier due to the eclipse. So.. They'll be doing things.. I have no doubt the students will be outside.. However.. What the district provides, or whether the teachers wind up buying glasses out of pocket or they'll tell students to buy... I have no idea.

I think Laurens 55 is out that day. I know there was an adjustment to the schedule, but it makes no sense. It says something to the effect of schedule changed for the eclipse, but doesnt say what the change is.......

I bought a few extra glasses, so I will send them to school with my daughter. Hate seeing the teachers pay for that!

Well School does not start until the day after the Eclipse in Greenville County and I believe that school starts August 17 in Spartanburg county but is closed August 21st. Probably wise. I would not want to be responsible as a teacher for ensuring that countless kids complied with the requirement to keep on the glasses.............Hope this is not a problem for day care folks.

Greenville Tech starts that day- hard to see any instruction going on, and I would worry about those young people not protecting their eyes!

We're close to the eastern edge of totality, and were thinking about traveling west a bit. I wonder what kind of crowds to expect at Keowee or Jocassee? We could make a day of it at one of the parks, heading over there early.
