I visited the new Panera yesterday and it was a disappointment. Panera stores have always felt cozy and warm to me. This one felt very generic and uninviting. I don't know if this is some new design Panera is doing across the board, or if they felt this particular design "fit" with the Farmhouse look at the corner, but it was certainly a let down. To be honest, the entire development of that corner has been underwhelming.
I hope we do get a McAllisters Deli, something like that would be welcome in the current sea of fast food and Ruby Tuesday/Chili's/O'Charley's, etc... Tipsy Taco is just okay, we've eaten there three times. The prices are high for what you get, I doubt we'll be returning.
I don't have any ideas myself, but this part of Simpsonville is starved (pun intended!) for better dining options.

It won't change your mind on the prices, but the Pelham Rd. location is significantly better. Better food, better service, not remotely as claustrophobic...

It would be nice if there were more homegrown options. Mad Cuban and Anthony's are the only places on Fairview I'm really excited about. (Although I admittedly haven't tried Poke Bros.)

Haven't visited the new Panera yet, but by the comments on Facebook, you are not alone in being underwhelmed with the new store. Many say they miss the fireplace the old location had.
