Looking at taking a job in Greenville, SC moving from Central Indiana and want to make sure I'm not jumping from one problem to another. Are there any large scale wind farms in the area? Have there been any attempts to bring wind farms in?

There are no wind farms in SC that I know of. There isn't as much wind in the southeast as in the midwest. Wind farms would most likely be built offshore if SC gets them.

Thanks, I was there some years ago and didn't remember seeing any but I don't want to move into a potential wind farm area.

No wind turbines here. We don't get much steady wind.

Only wind turbines this region I've ever heard of potentially coming would be the BMW plant in Greer which conducted a study in 2009 taking wind measurements around the site for several weeks but haven't heard anything since then so guess they passed on the idea. General Electric does turbine blade engineering and manufacturing at its Greenville plant but thats more associated with gas turbine engines then wind farms I think.

That's why sailboat racing is boring most of the year around here.
