That's neat, but I'd also call it misleading. Charleston has twice the breweries with fewer people in both their county and MSA compared to Greenville. The arbitrary divisor based on city population reflects annexation laws more than it provides an accurate picture.
Yeah, ironically that probably means we have like 11 or 12 breweries in the city based on the fact that we only have ~60,000 people in the Greenville city limits. Wouldn't say 11 breweries is all that significant. Though I'm certainly happy with having even that many. Love me some craft brews!
Also still hate the fact that we only show having 60,000 people. Very deceiving number based on how large the urban area really is. Not a small town by a long shot.

The article says Greenville has 14 with more on the way while Charleston has 27 and Asheville has 39. At some point it seems like Asheville is going to hit a number it can't sustain.

I agree with you on that.
Both Charleston and Asheville have a lot of tourists which is a big reason they have more.
It makes me laugh when I see Greenville on lists with these hip cities like Boulder and Portland and Asheville and ranked above Charleston which historically has been SC' most hyped up city.
Edit: I do realize they are a beer collective vs. brewery - but close enough for me.
