Between the early 80's and the time that Bell Tower became Greenville County office space, the former Big K, (Edwards) on the upper level and the former Community Cash lower level were leased by Fluor Engineering. We were scattered across town back then in the Daniel Building, old Belks, J.C. Penney, Bankers Trust Plaza and Bell Tower. Eventually we all moved to the Fluor Campus and were laid off in '83. Progress! :-)

I can't begin to thank you guys for all of the responses and stories! I've been trying to piece information together for years on end now, and thanks to the help from everyone who responded, I'm slowly piecing together a timeline for all four malls.

Any further questions, please feel free to ask.

I went to all of those malls constantly as a child and even as a young adult. Now, never, with Main Street back in business (literally).

The Eckerd drug store at McAlister Square was originally Walgreens. It did have the restaurant also.

The Eckerd drug store at Wade Hampton Mall was originally Walgreens. I remember W.T. Grants was a variety store also in the mall. I believe there was a Bakers shoe store as well at the mall. There was a Winn Dixie too. I can remember a huge laundromat in the lower level area. I believe there was a jewelry store there at one time but I don’t remember the name of it. It was a nice mall for its time.

McAllister Square was a nice small mall indeed. I remember it had Ivey's, Meyers Arnold, Belk-Simpson, and Eckerd Drugs and Morrison's Cafeteria up front. I can't recall if the Ivey's converted to Dillard's or closed down.
