Glendale Shoals in Spartanburg had a ton of litter two weeks ago. I picked up some of it.

Not sure where else to post this, so here goes...

I noticed automatic road analyzer (ARAN) vehicles in just about every part of Greenville, Pickens, and Anderson Counties during the last week. I am thankful to have found evidence of potential future road maintenance.

By the way, we have been blessed with some very beautiful rural countryside in the Upstate, and the roads outside the more densely populated areas aren't all full of potholes and litter.

Another reminder today SC still needs a can and bottle deposit law to reduce the amount of litter on the sides of our roads.

Pretty much red necks throwing trash everywhere. I see it all the time. Bags of trash falling out of the back of some beat up pick up truck being driven by some toothless hick.

It seems like the worst litter area in Greenville would be the west part of the metro, the poor high crime urban areas.

The absolutely awful state of roadside litter earlier this year seems to have drastically improved.

The litter situation has improved but it’s still not where it should be. I noticed just this morning that somebody completely lost their load of trash along I-85 northbound just north of Pelham Road. Litter all over the road. There needs to be more clean up efforts, stricter laws, better enforcement, and more education. Hopefully the situation will improve even more once Covid subsides if it ever does.

The completely unenforced law about loads must be covered would be a big help.

The only way we will see enforcement of the laws is to put more law enforcement officers on the roads and start fining people.

We can hardly get LE to enforce traffic laws as it is.
