A guy in front of me tossed a huge soft drink cup out of his window just before he turned into his own driveway. Of course, if you saw his 'yard', you'd understand.
Some counties do a lot better than others. Greenville County has a great app for reporting litter/dumping, and a team of people that clean it up. And volunteers can go on the app to find places to clean. You'll see litter on the roadsides but terrible litter doesn't stay long.
Laurens County, on the other hand, could use some help.
That is seriously the stupidest article ive read. "Dirtiest city" is highly subjective, but that article barely tries even using any actual data to support. They literally list "rats, density, and air" for every city. It was clearly written by an intern on a slow day for clicks and seo. "Just google the 15 largest cities in the US and write whatever."
This thread is highly subjective as well, but that article is a terrible example of evidence.

I'm constantly befuddled why people throw garbage on the side of the road when they can bring it to a county convenience center for no additional charge. South Carolina would benefit from a bottle bill, a container deposit law. This would give an incentive for people not to throw cans and bottles out the window and incentivize people to pick up the cans on the side of the road, which would reduce the amount of litter.
