I'd like to take my Mom downtown this evening to a casual but nice restaurant for dessert. Nothing too fancy so casual is the key word here, but they must make fantastic sweet stuff.

Anyone have suggestions? We might get an appetizer too so if they have other food that would be good, just in case.

Thanks!

Default restaurant

The fried green tomatoes at Smoke on the Water is a great appetizer. I haven't had dessert though.

Really? I didn't even think of that. I would have thought they'd all be open on the weekends when more people have free time to go out and eat. Thanks for letting me know.

you may have already herd of this place, but Coffee Underground has some good desserts. Downstairs at Coffee St and Main. I think they are open on Sundays too. Oh, i think they serve food, but not sure about appetizers.

Most of them are only closed on Sunday evening though. Many are open for brunch/lunch and into the late afternoon. A few places remain open into the late evening, but for some odd reason, Sunday evenings are not the best times to shop and dine in downtown Greenville. I have no doubt that this will inevitably change as more people move into and closer to the heart of the city. Until then, it is a negative for anyone who is looking for the same vast array of options that is available every other night in our vibrant downtown.

For light food, dessert, and a pleasant atmosphere, I recommend The Brown Street Club and The Cazbah.
