Hi all. We've lived in the area for about 6 months now. I'm originally from Myrtle Beach by way of Charlotte.

I saw another thread with someone saying that they didn't see the "wow" when they visited. That inspired me to post links to a few examples of my new hobby. Gigapanning is a process by which you use a digital point & shoot camera (with the help of a robotic mount) to take a group of pictures of a scene. The photos are then stitched together on your computer to give you a single image of incredible resolution and depth. I'm just getting the hang of it, but I thought I'd share my first few attempts.

(Sorry for the clunky links - this board doesn't seem to support "live" links.)

Caesar's Head state park is roughly a 45 minute drive from downtown, but still in Greenville County. This panorama gives you an idea of the view, but still doesn't do it justice:

Raven Cliff falls overlook is at the end of a 2 mile hike just down the road from the Caesar's Head ranger station and overlook:

Bald Rock is off the side of the road on the way up the mountain to Caesar's Head:

This View of Table Rock is about 10 minutes away from Bald Rock. It appears in the far right of the Bald Rock panorama above.

The WOW is definitely out there. It's closer than you might think - even if you've lived here a while. . .

Enjoy.

Those are very nice, mosleyh! I think it is very sad that the Raven Cliff Falls overlook location has been changed. The view of the falls is much less spectacular now.

I've heard that. It is a pity.

I plan to get up to Symmes Chapel for a pano on the next clear day we have. I tried my very first one there but had some technical difficulties. I met a fellow local photog named Bill Robertson that day - you should check out his work if you don't know him already -

Ouch. You're right - I'd totally forgotten about that. Thanks.

Here's the first of three that I took on Saturday at Falls Park. I think this one is the best I've done so far. . .

Thanks, PhotoGal - that's very kind.

By the way, if anyone has suggestions for other photogenic panoramas in the area, I'm always looking for good places to shoot. . .

Here's the second one:
