Housing market is insane here. Be prepared to make an all cash offer and waive contingencies to get an offer accepted.

In other words you have to be rich to get a house these days.

Depends on what you’re looking for. 4,000 square feet, brand new on 5+ acres close to Greenville or Spartanburg? Well, yeah, you’re right.

Older smaller home on small lot in Gaffney, Cowpens, Union, etc . . . You can still find some $150-200k.

Also depends on your definition of “rich”. Everything is relative.

The previous housing bubble did not really affect Greenville. The current spike is definitely affecting us more.

I don't recall a specific requirement on ours (maybe on the coast though). FL has much more stringent building codes / insurance requirements that affect prices based on year built, type of windows, upgrades performed, etc. than SC after Andrew hit FL in 1992.

Oh if you are from S.Florida 100 times better. I pay less than a quarter of what I did in Martin County for the same size house.
