I'm a 32, almost 33 year old single guy who wants to live in or close to a downtown area that is dog friendly and am interviewing for a job that would allow me to live in either Greenville, SC or Knoxville, TN. Being a UT grad and stuck in Raleigh for the last 4 years I am loving the thought of being back in SEC country.
On the other hand I'm looking for a place that has a thriving, and more "grown up" oriented downtown (no offense K'ville, got nothing but love for ya). Having not spent much time at all in G'ville can I get thoughts, opinions, suggestions?
I don't know about websites, but I thought I would mention the Pendleton West subdivision near downtown. It has some neat looking homes, a few Craftsmen style. There are also some random new homes (not in a subdivision) in the general Pendleton West area that aren't on the MLS right now, and haven't been since I've been keeping up with it. I just purchased an adorable brand new traditional in the downtown area, so I thought I'd share my info. Good luck!
Knoxville, Knoxville Knoxville!!! I lived in Knoxville till my late 30's.
1.It is much more dog friendly than Greenville
2 Knoxville is a great college town, but when you are in college you miss the more Grown up side of the city. Knoxville has EVERYTHING you are looking for in a city, but in a little smaller package.
3 Knoxville is much more progressive than Greenville and is several years ahead of them in growth.
4 Knoxville's economy is very recession proof, due to the University and Government jobs
5 UT Football,need I say more

Ignore forum member I am quoting. He is posting his opinion and not the facts. Just remember which city was ranked #4 in the country to live in: Relocate-America's™ 2008 Top 100 Places to Live (http://top100.relocate-america.com/ - broken link) At least I don't have the "deer in the headlight i'm screwed" look.
Charlestoncadet sounds like the reincarnation of recently banned forum member, "southerngentleman," whom we experienced more than enough garbage information from. I suggest utilizing the ignore function for this guy because he will have nothing good to say about the Upstate.

Didn't Southerngentlman say he was moving to the Charleston area? Hmmm...

Thanks g-man, This is a great website to compare the two and see what both have to offer
