I am looking for a good private school in Greenville. My kids are PK and 1st Grade.... Anyone have any info? We are catholic, but doesn't have to be catholic school... okay if it is....There are so many private schools and it is really hard to find out about test scores, student teacher ratios etc....
Thanks,

As far as Catholic, there are really only two, St. Mary's and Our Lady of the Rosary. I went to OLR for middle school six years ago, and it was so uncomfortably bad I left after a quarter. I have had parents and students that have attended public schools say that it was exponentially better than the education at public schools, though!
St. Mary's had a really long waiting list when we moved to Greenville, so it may be hard to get them in.
The only other private school I've experienced here is Shannon Forest. I only went to the middle school, but we were happy with the education. It is Presbyterian, however, and I was personally made fun of a few times for being Catholic.
This might help with your search.

You can do a search within this forum and look for past conversations of people asking the same thing as you are. For instance you can search within forum and type schools, or private schools, education and see what comes up!

If money is not an issue, I highly recommend Christ Church Episcopal School.

Help for private schools
We are also looking to relocate to Greenville and I've done extensive research about the private schools. There is a website called privateschoolreview.com which gives # of students, student/teacher ratio, etc. It also lists the schools by elementary, middles schools, and high school. Sometimes it gives the website, but if not you can google and go directly to their website.

Did you find the right school for your children?
I saw that you had a response that said there were basically only 2 Catholic elementary schools in town. I wonder if you also checked out Prince of Peace on Brushy Creek Road?

St. Mary's is good, and is linked with St. Joseph's for when they reach the secondary grades. Both are Catholic in affiliation.
Christ Church is also good. It has a very good reputation, which is reflected by tuition costs. It is affiliated with the Episcopal church.
As you stated, there are plenty of others from which to choose. I have heard good things about Shannon Forest, but have no first-hand experience with them. Best of luck to you as you find the right school for your children!

private schools
Hi, My recommendation is Mt.Zion Christian on Garlington Rd. I taught preshcool there for 11 years . My youngest went there through 8th grade and went on to GT charter High school. Next would be Shannon Forest down the road if you are looking for p-12th grade. I know Christ Church, St Giles,Buncome St. United methodist, Mitchell Road Christian are all pretty good schools but may have long waiting list. South side Christian to me is very expensive for what you get. I am not a fan of public schools so your other option would be home schools. Some great co-ops in the area.
Good luck.
