I have not heard about this before. What exactly is it. Is it just more music by the poopy river put on by Larkins or is it really something tourist related.

You'll see later today what it will be like. You won't be disappointed. I guarantee it. Definitely not more music by the poopy river. LOL.

The Go Experience is a vibrant downtown venue that will attract both local and tourism usage. Fundamentally, the Go Experience seeks to redefine the static, tired notions of a “visitor center” by providing a series of immersive, exhibit-based experiences that will introduce users to the range of leisure and recreation opportunities available in Greenville and the surrounding Upstate region.

This “gateway to the mountains” will stimulate visitor interest to explore the mountainous Upstate region, and communicate opportunities for visitors to expand their “essential Greenville experience” beyond the downtown district. Ultimately, the owner believes that the actualization of the Go Experience will create a new downtown destination for visitors, while helping promulgate the vitality of neighboring experiences. In this sense, the Go Experience is a very unique destination – one not as motivated to “capture” an audience but, instead, to ensure that its audience understands the breath and depth of opportunities available to them in all of Upstate South Carolina.

The Go Experience represents an innovative model for a visitor-serving attraction – a destination intended to enhance awareness and perceptions of the greater community.

By contributing to an already vibrant “critical mass” of pedestrian-scaled, visitor-friendly attractions in Downtown Greenville and by communicating the virtues of the proximate Upstate mountain region, the owner believes that the successful delivery of the Go Experience will increase a visitor’s length of stay in Greater Greenville. In turn, this result will visibly demonstrate the power of tourism as a major economic development driver.

The GO Experience
• A sustainable building up to 20,000 square feet, located near the riverfront in
Downtown Greenville
• Piazza with space for local performances and artists
• Immersion/Introduction/Simulation of “Upstate experiences”: fishing,
whitewater rafting the Chattooga; hiking state parks; kayaking lakes and rivers;
hang gliding over Jones Gap
• Activity concierge: itinerary planners to assist in activity orientation and
outdoor planning; restaurant, retail and entertainment offerings
• Space for changing exhibits developed and hosted by Upstate destinations
• Exhibits on key themes: outdoors, clean technology, local development
• Space for changing corporate exhibits featuring many of the businesses that
contribute to Greenville’s diversified economy (BMW, Michelin, Bosch, etc.)
• Café and retail
• Potential roof-top garden for private events
• Parking and landscaping

It definitely sounds neat. Does it involve new construction, or is it just using a building and plaza that already exists

I'm hearing they're going to tear down the building currently on site and build something new and different. Rhodes Dahl is a really good company to have on board for this project. They did the Monterey Bay Aquarium: http://www.rhodesdahl.com/content.aspx?PID=43 (broken link)
