I'm in Greenville right now, as it is one of the places on my list of possible places to move. I'm not retired, and I'm certainly not independently wealthy (darn it! ) so I will need to find a job wherever I end up.
I picked up yesterdays paper and saw Master of Equity ads in the classifieds and although I couldn't read the small print, it didn't look like good stuff! Add to that, I couldn't find more than one or two listings that qualified as help wanted ads.
This is a lovely city, and I think I could be happy here, but the job situation worries me a lot.
I will be looking for general office work if that makes much difference.

I think there are still jobs here, check greenville.craigslist.org for one, and use careerbuilder.com as well. Given the current state of our economy, it might be harder than it usually would be to find a job anywhere. My wife's mother got laid off three times this year in Georgia, so its not easy. Someone around here may be able to help you as well, we have many people in different industries as part of our community here, good luck with your job search and good luck in Greenville in general, maybe I'll see you around
In most cities, the sunday classifieds in the local paper have the most jobs posted. You need to check all the resources like the poster above said. Monster, careerbuilder, craigslist. Try indeed.com, it pulls job listings from a lot of the major job boards.
I don't know about Greenville, but here in FL, there are few ads in the papers anymore, both for Help Wanted, and Items for Sale. I think newspapers as we know them are a dying breed.
Sunday's paper will be a better pick for jobs but you may still find listings lacking. I think a lot of employers here use employment agencies and a lot of times they don't advertise. Be careful online, it is easy to end up in a non paying job without realizing what you are walking into. I know someone that walked into a job in a dentist's office with very little skills in an office environment. Something like that might be a good fit for you. Above all, don't set your sights too high and you should do just fine.
Don't put too much weight on what you see (or don't) in the classifieds. You'd be surprised how much it costs to run classifieds compared to other mediums.
Thanks! I have one more location to look at before I make my final decision, but I'm pretty sure I will decide on Greenville. I will be back there for the night tomorrow and plan to look at a few apartments so I'll be more prepared when the time comes. I'm particularly interested in Taylors. :-)
