We have friends coming from out-of-town this Friday. They like Chinese buffets. They like to see their food. I've checked here and on some review sites and can't come up with any definitative positive remarks on the Greenville offerings. Would like something on the east side (I guess) - Pelham Road/Haywood/Greer.
Not sure if it is located in the east or west of Greenville but the Hibachi Grill on Woodruff Rd is one of the nicest Chinese buffets (decor, atmosphere, food quality etc.) in Greenville.
Went for lunch during my last visit to Greenville and loved the food and the pretty color lights over the food area was an extra nice touch!
I concur with NYB on this one! It's in a former Ryan's building, but well done (I think, considering it's a buffet restaurant). Food was very good when I went.
I've also been to Ni Hao (I think that's the name), also on Woodruff Rd near Whole Foods. I thought the food there was good as well.
REALLY liked East China Buffet off Congaree Rd near Halton, but I think it's closed now.
China Garden Buffet on Orchard Park (a block or so east of Haywood Rd. and north of I-385) is our favorite. We like the Mongolian bar.
I totally agree about this one. The interior of the place is nothing great, but the food is wonderful.
I also agree about Ni Hao.
As for Hibachi Grill on Woodruff, gotta disagree with you Upstatebooster. The quality of the food is terrible. This place is one of those buffets that exist for people to eat large quantities of food, at a cheap price without regard to taste. Quantity over quality sadly.
Hibachi Grill on Woodruff Rd. is our favorite. They are so busy , their food is always fresh. Great selection of chinese, sushi, and make your own mongolian.
Hibachi Grill on Woodruff road is definitely the best/nicest one in Greenville. It's new, there is an insane amount of selection, the price is quite good, etc. Just be prepared as they're always extremely busy. I've been to a bunch around here and Hibachi Grill is the only one I go back to on any sort of regular basis.
All buffet's are nasty. Stay away from them. I haven't been to one since the "Shane episode". We were at a buffet in town when a grandfather said, "Shane, get your fangers out of that nanner pudding." That did it for me.

For all the horror stories you hear about buffets, I can count the number of less-than-good buffet experiences on one hand in my 46 years on this planet. Unless the food itself is just plain bad, I generally have no problems with them. Although a good dose of "willing suspense of disbelief" or something similar couldn't hurt...
