We just adopted a puppy from the Humane Society and was wondering if there were any dog parks around here? We've become addicted to The Dog Whisperer, and that along with what the Humane Society told us has us convinced that early socialization is extremely important!

Thanks! Guess we have to wait a few more weeks, though...according to their info he has to be 4 months old.

Please consider puppy classes vs. just random encounters at the dog park. I teach some in Spartanburg at the Spartanburg Humane Society, but in Greenville I can recommend Sue Conklin for sure (she's the "Puppy Nanny" lol). Socialization is not just about exposing the puppy to new things, but about doing it in a way that will result in positive thoughts about the encounter.

Ian Dunbar actually has opened up free downloads of the ebook version of his Before and After You Get Your Puppy books on dogstardaily.com - they'd be a great place to start!

how much do you charge for dog training classes? will you work with problem dogs? (my dog is over excitable and dog aggressive, she's 5)

Thanks for the info! I've already downloaded his pdf...I lucked out with timing! We are considering the 8 week course offered by PetSmart...thought it'd be a good chance to meet other people too, being new to the area.
