i've been reading the forums for a while and thought i should register and start a thread.
We're moving to live in Weatherstone in Simpsonville at the end of July and are looking to make friends quickly, find a good babysitter and generally integrate into the community.
I'm English, my wife is from WV, both teachers and we have 2 children, a boy and a girl aged 2 years and 6 months respectively.
I know we can hang out at the pool and playground in the neighbourhood but are there any other great places to go to meet other parents with children the same age?
also are there any bars where i could watch football (soccer) and maybe meet up with other sports fans?
Welcome! I'd say that your children (esp. as they get older) will be a good way to meet other parents through their classes and activities, but looking at their ages, that may take a while yet. My other suggestion (I don't have children) would be to attend some family-friendly events. Simpsonville has things like Movies in the Park - outdoor screenings of favorite movies, as well as concerts & other events at Heritage Park.
In Simpsonville proper, there used to be a sports bar called The Zone near Target, but it looks closed at the moment. The Zone also has a location just off I-385 in Mauldin. Greenville has quite a few fun places - Buffalo Wild Wing, Chiefs and Bailey's in the more suburban areas, along with Carolina Ale House downtown and Liberty Tap Room in the West End (at Fluor Field). I know I'm probably forgetting some good ones.
If you come up with other questions, fire away! There are lots of folks on this forum who know WAY more than I do! lol

The Zone in Simpsonville shut down about 3 weeks ago - Carolina Ale House blows it away, anyway.
First of all welcome to Simpsonville -Im sure you will love it here My wife and I relocacted here 4 yrs ago from WV(southern wv) so when i saw your wife is from wv I had to say hi.(What part of WV is she from BTW) If you need someone to show you around let us know...we work alot and need some new friends as well..good luck on your move!
no, its not, but it's worth the drive and even if you don't want to hit the ale house the selection near there is much better than anything in simpsonville.

The one that I saw near Target off of Fairview Rd most definitely IS in Simpsonville (or what, if not technically within Simpsonville city limits, can only be considered to be in Simpsonville).

Read the entire thread - I said that The Carolina Ale House was not in Simpsonville. I have lived in Simpsonville my entire life. I know what is and is not in the town.

That wasn't clear. But no biggie (to me, anyway).
