anyone else finding a lot of black widows in their yard this year, i keep coming up with them, yes on the handle of my garbage bin, and any hollow space, i rinse off the garbage bin once every two weeks and those darn things run like he!! from the wheel base, i thought they weren't aggressive,maybe mine just hate pinesol, lol, well this afternoon, i decided to wash down the dog loo and lo and behold i upset one, as he ran right up the rag covered in soap and javex, i'm sure you heard me swearing all over town, took 1/2 hour for my heart to stop thumpppping. well apparantly it had an egg sac, i javexed the spider. I have let all the others go but this one freaked me out with its aggressiveness, and then i stomped on the egg sac, vandictive i know , pray for me, bad bad spider hating person at this moment. well does anyone know a common household treatment to deter these puppies, i have kids and dogs so i prefer not to spray chems, but will if i have too, thanks still shaking in greer.
I killed 4 of them today while spreading mulch and raking leaves, I have killed more this year than ever. Black Widows are hard to kill, even with posion they take awhile to die. I hate Spiders too.

I think it is maybe because of the lack of rain? Brake out the spray and kill them little suckers lol. Rather have the mosquitoes then one of them things in my bed eeek.
That is except bees. I didn't believe it when they said that this season would be bad for the insects, but I was running from Bees in December and now I'm dealing with Spiders and Ants! The chamber of commerce in Greer may have a good suggestion on pest control. I have been to several meetings and had the pleasure of speaking to a lady pest control person. I use to burn down webs and thier eggs since I was younger, I do not question the type of any spider, except Grandaddy long legs, but I haven't seen one of those this year, maybe that is why I do not have any luck with these other critters. My niece who is 13 months was bitten by an insect, the doctor said it is not a mosquito bite, probably a spider bite, blessed for us my sister is a hypochondriac and checks her for bites and marks everyday, so we was on it quickly when we noticed the ugly bite, so I went at those bushes like maniac, cut them and sprayed them, I'd rather spray chemicals and keep my niece away for a few hours than allow ugly bites like that on her. However, being so dry I was hesitant of burning the webs in my bushes and by the house so instead of the hairspray torch LOL. I asked her at the next meeting what to do about it. She said that the best thing to do is observe where the eggs may be, and exactly as you did with the rag spray the web with cleaner (BLEACH THEM) and wipe the whole thing up with the rag. Place it in a plastic bag, spray a spider spray from (home depot, do it yourself pest control) in the bag and tie it up, throw the whole thing in your outside trash can. I would also spray my trash can after I washed it too. My dog eats the spiders, I was thinking of getting a cat to help him out LOL! As you can tell I hate spiders too, and those ant bites are also painful and dangerous.
