In my eyes, a big reason why minor league sports fail in Greenville is the overall cost to go to a game. The Gbraves and now Drive have always done it right but all other teams fail in that aspect. Sure, I could bring my kids and a couple friends to a Grrrowl game for $5 a ticket, but once I get there, hot dog is $4, soda $5, beer $7, popcorn $4, fries $3. I end up spending close to $80 bring the whole family. Concession prices are key. Drive have very reasonable prices and make the overall experience affordable. The Groove, Grrrowl, Rhinos, Force have all failed in that area and I know concession prices were always a main reason why people told me they didn't go to those games! You can't take kids to a game and tell them not to eat, be more trouble than it's worth to try. And when I wanna just go with friends, no one wants to spend $7 on a beer when we can go to a bar and watch games for much much cheaper!
