We are relocating from Houston to Greenville. We went on our first house-hunting trip there over Labor Day weekend. We are looking for a family-friendly neighborhood but don't want to live way out in the 'burbs like Simpsonville, Greer, etc. We like to live closer toward city centers in established neighborhoods that have walkability and keep the resale value of the homes.
We LOVED Cleveland Park area but had a tough time finding homes that are big enough in our price range (400-500k) and renovated to where we don't have to do much. Thought we would like N. Main, but didn't like ANY homes there. Augusta Road seems promising and we'll continue to look there, but we saw Stratton Park and liked the feel of the neighborhood. However, I can't find anything on this neighborhood online. It seemed really quiet when we drove through. Any of you know if this is a family-friendly neighborhood or is it mostly older residents? We didn't see any kids out playing like we did in the Cleveland Park neighborhood. Also, any idea on whether or not Stratton Place is a desirable neighborhood? In other words, will the homes keep their value better than the sprawling areas where the inventory is so high?
Any insight is appreciated. We have relocated enough times to know that we need a neighborhood where there is a sense of community and it's easy to meet people! I look forward to hearing some of the locals' point of view.
Thanks!
