That's too bad. I wish they would turn them into Hannaford's. I know they are all owned by the same company, but Hannaford's (from northern New England) always seemed much nicer to me than Food Lion.

I saw that story on the TV news. Kind of surprising.

So Charlotte is the home market and those Blooms are changing over to Food Lion. Are they just doing with the Bloom division? Failed company experiment?

I shopped at bloom once, it was the worst experience I have ever had in a grocery store, I am not surprised they are going away.

Elaborate. I've shopped at Bloom a few times and never had any problems.

When Bloom opened, I was one of their biggest fans. Only shopped at Bloom. Then after about a year, I stopped going there. Everything that made them great at opening, sort of just went away. All the great technology (hand scanners, u-check outs, wine / food kiosk, etc, etc) seemed to start breaking and didn't get fixed. The great customer service gave way to less than average service. The stores went from clean to dirty. The Bloom card program changed to a less than impressive program. Their initial unique advertising and community promotion seemed to become hohum.

All in all, could have been a great chain. Someone at the top, didn't keep their eye on the ball.

When is the store on W. Georgia Road (Simpsonville) gonna be converted into a Food Lion store. Bloom is our closest store now and have been there three times. Didn't think it was bad at all. Is it gonna be worth shopping at Food Lion?
