Rumor has it that BPS has opted out of the Greer site and will be going where the former Hoechst Celanese plant currently sits behind Whole Foods Market. The owners of the site are apparently kicking out the tenants currently so they can tear it down and have BPS come in.
Are you kidding me? That stretch of road is already the most hellish in the entire state, put a BPS there and we're gonna have murder by road rage on a weekly basis, unless SCDOT immediately widens Woodruff to 3 lanes each way. bad move, very bad move.

I didn't say I supported it. Just telling you the rumor. BPS attracts over 2 million visitors a year on average per store. Traffic is going to be much worse on Woodruff Road if this rumor is true.
The proposed BPS location on Woodruff is absurd; there is no way 1 exit can handle the extra traffic... in fact, it cannot handle today. I can see how it makes sense since there are plenty of hotels and restaurants nearby, but a large percentage (not all) BPS are located away from urban locations.... examples... BPS near Knoxville was bulit at the Pigeon Forge exit off of I-40, and then more development followed. The BPS near Detroit was built between Detroit, Toledo and Ann Arbor off of US-23, and development followed. Even though I think the Hwy 14 exit makes better sense, why not the Hwy 153 exit (#40)??? There is room for infrastructure improvements, and it is a little closer to Lakes Hartwell, Keowee and Jocasse.

I'd DEFINITELY rather see BPS at either of the locations you mentioned.
I, too, would prefer I-85 at Highway 14 as originally planned. That makes sense, and would spur development around it. There is little room to do that on Woodruff Road.
The SC 153 exit at I-85 would work well too in that it is in the suburbs and would cause a domino effect of development. I am not sure how much available real estate exists there for something of this magnitude. Bass Pro Shops wants interstate frontage, yes?
The more I consider this location, the less I like it. I'm not against it, per se. But we could definitely do better.
