Sounds encouraging! I like the ideas mentioned in the article. Going for a Virginia Highlands-type feel would be very appropriate to that area.

Would LOVE Virginia Highlands type feel! Very excited...but who knows when and if this is really going to happen.

Sorry to resurrect an ancient thread, but there's apparently been some action on this. Found this link in a story in this week's Journal News Now (JNN): http://www.planstoneavenue.org/wp-content/gallery/Plan%20Stone%20Avenue%20report_draft_October%20201 0_lores.pdf (broken link)

Now, THIS is the kind of in-town development Greenville needs to get to the "next level"!!

Side question: does anybody know what computer software would typically be used to create a document portfolio like the PDF linked above?

You'd need a few different apps:

The pictures, charts, graphs, etc, would be done with a graphics editing app. Charts and graphs may be easier to generate in a spread sheet, then capture them as graphics.

Then you could use any desktop publishing app, or even use a word processor, to assemble everything.

The final step would be to create a PDF. There are a few different ways to accomplish this, including purchasing a copy of Adobe Acrobat (not Acrobat Reader), or any number of apps that can convert other formats into PDF.

Most of these apps can be gotten for free. More specific recommendations would depend upon the particular system that you are running (Windows, Mac, or Linux).
