Are ticks a problem there? Like, do you need to check the dog every time it goes outside? Hope not.

You don't have to check your dog every time, but there are definitely ticks. I found a couple on our dog, she stays outside most of the time. Hadn't checked for them in quite some time though. It seems like it's more of a problem during the summer.

Default Thanks

We have none where we live in Ohio, but I know in New England and in southern Ohio, for example, your dog goes out and comes in covered with the little buggers.

We have an outdoor Lab. In 4 years we've found two tics on him.

It's not been an issue for me unless my dog stayed outside all the time. However, I do have my schnauzer (who is a house dog) vaccinated for Lyme disease because of the deer ticks. It's a simple preventative that is very important. I've never seen a tick on her like I did on my Springer Spaniel who was an outside dog, but I don't take chances.

If you have a tick problem there, you have probably vaccinated your dog, and as others said, you will need to check them. Not every time, though, unless you live out in the country with woods up to your doors. (Then you need to check yourself!) :-)
