I use South Carolina Bank and Trust and love them. They have a branch off Pelham so depending on where you are in Greer that may be close enough for you. They do not charge you fees for using other ATm's and the reimburse you the fee that the other bank charges. I bank at the one in downtown Greenville and everytime I go in they know who I am and they even introduce me to other customers if they think we may have something in common. It reminds of the bank I had my first passbook account at when I was a toddler.

Thanks Jeng! I'll have to see where there is one in Greer, I'm off Wade Hampton, off 290/101 I think it is. You brought back vivid memories of the days of passbooks, much more simpler (and safer) times

We are very happy with our decision to move our assets to BB&T when we relocated to the Greer area. We are closer to the branch at Hudson Corners (Hudson Road and Old Spartanburg Rd.), but I've also used the one on Poinsett near Wade Hampton.

Can't believe it's been almost a year since I posted this! Of course, with my luck, the bank I chose, right afterwards, was taken over by the FEDS! Never heard of Certus and now considering moving the account.

Still would like to find a bank that has a coin counter - has anyone noticed one in the Greenville area that has one, or has seen one since this initial post. No Coinstar, just a bank - DH needs it for work and would open an account at the bank to utilize it. At home we had it at all the branches and was free for anyone to use at the beginning, then only customers got to utilize it for free, others had to pay 8%.

Can anyone tell me a bank between Greer/Taylors and the dreaded Woodruff Road area that may have a machine?

Thanks!

We have used SCTelco Credit Union for 10 years. Not sure if they open to the public or not. We are very happy with the service.

Good, solid banks to consider:

  • BB&T: Regional (not national)
  • SCB&T: statewide
  • Arthur State Bank: local

I would also second the suggestion of SunTrust. Great staff and they are really easy to work with.
