Can anyone give me some information on how the revitalization process is going in the west End? I am looking at the houses in that area and a lot of them are still pretty run down and very cheap. Can anyone give me some insight on how well this process is going? I know all about the businesses that are going in on the West end but just south of the stadium seems pretty rough. Any information would be great.

Thanks in advance.

The economy has stalled some of it. Yes you can still be right in the heart of the action, take a wrong turn and end up in the ghetto.
Are you looking at homes to buy? if so, not just the west end area right?

Well the only reason I was looking at the west end is because A. I wanted to be with in walking distance to main street and the ball park. B. I wanted to spend around 150k. It seems like once you get close to downtown the prices shoot up pretty quick and I was considering the West End because it seems like a good opportunity to get in on the ground floor while still being in walking distance of main street. Is the West End still a really bad area? Any info would be great.

We'd need more specifics on your location.

I believe some of the older homes between the Pendleton West development and Greenville H.S. either are or have recently been renovated. That can be a nice older area.

Check out arlington ave. I live there with my wife and 5 year old son and it is fine. We have other families with kids up and down the street. If it was that bad we would have moved a long time ago. I will say that most of the real "deals" have already been bought up though. It can be hard to find good comps as well because most of the close by houses are in what you would call the "hood." I love it here though, we walk every friday with our son to the concert at the top of main for music and entertainment. last friday was really nice because artisphere was going on too. If you don't hang out in front of the Citgo station on a sat night you don't have any problems.

Default Area

The area we were looking at is "green ave neighborhood or washington heights" are the names. It seems as though a lot of good things are starting to happen there and the prices still seem pretty good. If you could give me some insight into the part of town east of Anderson and south of dunbar. So like Jenkins, Jeter, Casey, Nelson, Genesis CT., Cleo, Mcleod, lincoln. I hear it as all being fixed up, but since I have not been up there in a year or so I don't know what to believe. Thanks for any information you can give me.
