I have heard of other states that do this, yet did not know if SC does..I am a mother of a disabled 7 1/2 year old daughter who requires 24/7 care..

i know there are some states who actually pay something to the parent/caregiver because they can no longer work outside of the home.

SC residents are opposed to paying higher taxes.....as a result SC does not have a lot of programs to help those in need like other states have.

Could be wrong....but in my time living in Greenville never heard of any programs that pay caregivers of disabled children. You may want to try placing this thread in the general SC forum.....you may get more responses there.....have seen similar questions asked in the general forum before.

Good luck...

Here are some options off the top of my head, not sure if this is what you're looking for though:
You should definitely be able to get Medicaid for you and your daughter. I'm not sure if you or your daughter would get social security disability, but that would be the thing to look into if you're looking for monthly financial help. Your child care expenses will be tax-deductible. There are definitely medical programs here that you should be eligible for that are extremely low-cost. Contact the Greenville Memorial Hospital if you're interested and speak with their business office about the patient sponsorship program, and other programs where you would see residents under the supervision of an attending physician for free or very low cost.
I wish you the best of luck!

If you qualify for Medicaid you may be able to get some help but - you know - it is right about the taxes and I am sick of it - I DON"T MIND PAYING TAXES! - my granddaughter's school is losing teachers and the science lab. How is that going to help us in the long term other than having a generation of kids too stupid to know how much better it could be?

But we bought a wheelchair van for my mother from a guy who went out of the transport business because Medicaid cut the number of times he could take people to dialysis and he could not afford to run his business anymore.

Now to quit complaining and try to help:
I don't think these folks are an exact match but maybe that can help you find help.
