Thank you for sharing with us, Tony. What a wonderful pic of you and Mom. I'm so happy to see the smiles on both of your faces. You look so proud of your Dad. He must have been such a good guy. How wonderful that he will live on in this award.

Now, go get married and have a Tony III and do your Dad real proud!

(((HUGS)))

I am sorry. It says a lot about him that you loved him so.

I still miss my dad, and he died in 1999 at the age of 78. We are fortunate, those of us who had good fathers. Some people don't have that much luck.

I hope the memories comfort you.

I'm sorry for your loss, Tony. I heard many good stories about your dad growing up, and my family were saddened to hear that he had passed. God bless!

Tony, So sorry for you loss and I send my best. I lost my dad when very young and losing a parent is painful. Cherish the memories and keep your family close.

He got it worse, was in fights w/ other kids all the time where he grew up.

That sort of upbringing lit a fire underneath him. He vowed that if he got married and could have a family he would be there for his kids. He would work 10, 12 hours a day pushing construction equipment down the road but always had time to toss the baseball with me in the back yard after dinner. If he missed one of my baseball games when I was in little league he would still feel bad about it weeks later. It was 30 years ago last Saturday that cancer took him. I miss him, he was the best.

Tony, it sounds like the relationship you had with your dad was first rate. I like the quote in post #16 by Mack Knife-- "Peace came to your Father and he is blessed that he has a Son that knows that."
Great post my friend.

It's always a pleasure to learn more about my CDF friends in forums other than where we usually trade comments.

I certainly agree about Tony's relationship with his dad.

Grief hits at anniversaries and times when we would normally talk to that person.

We need to get caught up sometime......

Hi D. Scott,

What a nice post. I think losing a parent is difficult at anytime. There are different loses depending on our age when we lost our parent and plans/dreams shared which weren't realized and perhaps some that were fulfilled.

I don't think one can be prepared for the feeling getting the call a parent is gone. At least I wasn't.
