I am thinking of the McCain family today. They have had a week of very public grieving, funerals, cross-country flights and receiving the thousands of people who wanted to pay their respects for their beloved John McCain. Today will be the internment and then they can go home to Arizona. May God be with them and comfort them....I can't remember seeing such courage and grace, and family cohesion, and funeral pomp and circumstance....since the death of JFK.
Poor Mrs. McCain. By the end of the funeral service, she looked spent.. After the interment, she can finally recover at home.

Had such a good meeting and the pot luck was really nice. Attendance was up to over 30 Friends, in the summer when the snow birds leave we are often about 20....but we had some visitors today....an emeritus couple who had moved away and a couple who visited last week returned with a friend.

The company of friends was very rewarding today.....several told me how much they appreciated my participation and presence...."we feel as if you are part of our family".....it made me feel very connected.

I had cooked a really big mac and cheese....with 1 1/2 pounds of pasta and lots of different cheeses and cream and milk.....it was all gone.

That sounds wonderful elston. SO happy you had such a lovely time!
Good to her from you elko....I know you are pretty busy right now!
Our new district manager is coming by our store today so yesterday was a clean it day and we did! I was so tired I fell asleep as soon as I got home at 5pm--but then woke up at 8 and found it hard to get back to a good sound sleep. Probably this prednizone doesn't help. Oh well I can take a nap today. Only work 3 days this week so I hope I feel good enough to get some work done around this house and maybe a little time at the "Y".
Have a blessed day everyone!

Got a few things done this morning but now am feeling quite lonely--I'm sure because of the holiday! Use to always be a big family affair! I just feel a little lost and lonely. Time to get busy again!

I know what you mean. I get nostalgic for the days when the kids were home, and we had big potluck cookouts with friends and family. Now everyone is spread far and wide, but at least we have the memories.

I can relate to that also. Labor Day used to be a time for family get togethers and cook outs.....I am also feeling a bit down today. My guy wasnt feeling well today and cancelled his tennis schedule..(unlike him) and he has been pretty much lying in bed. It doesnt feel like a holiday.
