Has this happened to you? You're out and about somewhere and someone walks by and looks like someone
you lost. It makes you gasp for a moment

I remember being stopped at a red light and noticed a woman walking by. She had the same build, hair
color - looked so much like my deceased mother. Was even wearing the kind of clothes she would wear.

Another time I was taking the subway into the city. It was crowded but I had a seat. A man was standing right
next to me and had the same build, height and facial expressions of a deceased friend who passed suddenly
from a heart attack. I couldn't stop glancing at him. When my stop came, he stepped aside to let me off and gave me a smile - the same smile my friend had! Was wondering if it was actually my friend's way of saying hello from up above...

Once I saw someone so similar to my late husband, and I did take a deep breath, and on exhale I could see the differences.

But once in college, we were supposed to meet up after a class I had on the fourth floor of this building. I looked out the window, when I went to close it, and there was my boyfriend (who later became my husband) waiting for me on the flagstone porch. Class ended about 20 minutes later, and I ran down the steps, out onto the porch and straight into the arms of complete stranger.

In front of my just arriving boyfriend. They really did kind of look alike. We all laughed about it. And my guy really worked that one for a while...

My hubby used to wear a black Greek fisherman's cap all the time. Never left the house without it. The first time I saw a man wearing one, my heart caught in my throat. The man's back was towards me so I got to stare at that cap for a few moments.

I have seen doppelgangers of a couple of deceased friends. I have to remind myself that person is gone.

About a year after my father died, I saw him standing in line at a cash register, just as my husband and I were leaving a store. Or, at least I thought I saw him. There was a man, who from a distance, looked exactly like him, right down to wearing clothes that my father would have worn.

I stared way too long at this man, until my husband gently took my arm and began to lead me out of the store. He told me he had also seen the guy with the uncanny resemblance, and it unnerved him at first too.

In a way it was kind of nice and I entertained the thought that maybe my father was a bit humorously saying hello. But in another way, the last thing on my mind that day was grief and loss, and seeing my father's "twin" brought up some very unexpected emotions.

My Mom passed away almost 4 years ago at the age of 89. There's a woman who works at my local Hallmark store who looks like a younger version (age 60-ish) of my Mom...similar hairstyle, complexion, height, etc. When I first noticed her, I could not stop looking. I'm sure the woman thought I was some kind of weirdo.

I used to do business with my ex-father in law's half brother. Talking to the gentleman's son was like talking to my ex-father in law. They looked exactly alike and they sounded exactly alike--even though they didn't know each other very well.

Pretty eye opening.

You see with your eyes.
You perceive with your mind.

You see, what your mind offers to be seen.

I have regularly seen at business events a man who strongly resembles my late father. He is an engineer, as was my dad. Nice man. I always make sure to say hello.

If someone ever did digitized "typical faces" rendering of entire humanity, they'd find that faces are, actually, very similar and few types. Hence, it is very easy to glance at someone and believe that he or she looks like someone else. MOF, now, with people wearing muzzles, it's even easier to do.

Years ago I remember seeing a wedding guest that strongly resembled one of my twenty something children. The profile was quite close, as was posture. But the height was wrong. The resemblance was so strong I had to look several times at this person.
