I hope to be there someday. If I don't work myself into an early grave first.

No clue, they're marked L1 - L23, research didn't turn up much, maybe just a numbering guide for the rail?

Nice rifle. I have a Marlin Model 60 and she's plenty 22 for me.

You mentioned you haven't had much experience with rifles, so if you don't mind I'll give you a heads up on rimfire ammo.

First, stay away from Remington rimfire ammo. Loose crimps, dirty powder, hit and miss priming. It's not worth the cheap price. They do have two rounds that I like, the hyper-velocity Yellow Jackets and their very silent but deadly subsonic CB rounds.

Stick with Federal and CCI for cheap reliable ammo. Federal just released a "tactical" 22 round that has gotten great reviews. Their bulk stuff is usually good for the price. CCI is my go to cheap ammo. Clean burning, accurate and feeds in my semi auto without fail.

There is more expensive match grade ammo. If your not shooting competitively you won't need them.

Start by buying 50 or 100 round packs and see how your rifle likes it. Rimfire rifles are notoriously picky with different brands of ammo.

Oh and if the rimfire bug bites you really hard, head over to Rimfirecentral.com. The wealth of rimfire knowledge on that site is huge and they are always willing to help someone new to rimfire shooting.

Now get out there and kill some cans!

The white numbers are a numbering system on the rail so any items that are installed and then removed can be put back in the same location. Ruger's new SR22 might be an interesting contender for 'tactical 22' now that their new BX-25 magazine is on the market. I have several 10-22's and none of them give me the accuracy at 50 yards that I would like. A good friend has a Sig 522 that, together, we have test fired quite a bit, the accuracy at 50 yards was only what I would call fair. I purchased a 22 LR upper for one of my AR-15's, it's accuracy isn't what I hoped for either. My son has a Marlin 17 HMR bolt action rifle that is un-believably accurate. Irritates me that I can't get the same level of accuracy out of any of my 22's.
