The one aspect I do not care for on Tactical .22's is the magazine made to resemble that of 5.56's.
I am proud of my .22’s and do not need to pretend they are something bigger. I kind of think these large magazines may become the weak link in them.

As they are designed to mimick the look af an actual AR they'd look pretty damn silly with a mag that is only large enough to hold a 22 round. I fail to see how the mag being larger than necessary externally would have any impact on reliability, and history has proven that they are reliable, I don't recall seeing any major issues with the mags.
My son has a Marlin 17 HMR bolt action rifle that is un-believably accurate. Irritates me that I can't get the same level of accuracy out of any of my 22's.
Pick yourself up a Marlin Model 60. Out of the box they are one of the most accurate rifles made. They don't have the number of aftermarket accessories like the Ruger 10/22, but that's because they don't need a bunch of a.m. parts to make them accurate. If you want a bolt action, their Model 925 is just as accurate.
You can get one new on sale for around $150 or you can hit a pawn shop and pick one up for around $75-80.
I have to disagree. I have a Marlin Model 60, and its accuracy is OK, but I seriously doubt that it will equal a 17 HMR bolt-action. But it is an unfair comparison IMO.

Totally agree. No semi auto will be as accurate as a bolt action. I was just making a couple of suggestions for an accurate 22 that will help Nite Ryder get back at his son a little bit, lol.
I've never been much into rifles but decided I wanted to get a 22 for the sole purpose of some fun, cheap trigger time. I was looking at the Ruger 10/22 until in my research found the tactical 22 category. After much research I'm picking up a Sig 522 tomorrow and have an inexpensive red/green dot sight in the mail. Compared to my .380, 9mm, and .40's this'll be an absolute bargain to shoot.
Anyone else have one?
I'm sure you will be happy with your new toy but IMO tactical guns are nothing more than "spray" bullets guns with little to no thought to pin point accuracy.
This is where guns like the Ruger 10/22 walked that fine line between more bullets and get more bullets on the target.

Enjoy your new gun..........
HHMMMM I wonder what type of tactical weapons the Seals were using when they double tapped Osama to the head and chest.
I assume it wasn't these spray bullets all over the place type of which you speak.

I'm going to get back at him by buying a 17 HMR barrel for either an Encore or Contender. It won't be what we can call a tactical 22, but it will be accurate and that caliber really reaches out.
The 10-22 out of the box isn't a minute of angle 22, but it can be made into one.
Gone are the days of single shot Remington bolt 22's that were minute of angle .22's. If anyone has on one I would be interested for the right price. I had one i gave to my son and miss it real bad. The plainer the better, and 50's vintage or older single shot bolts only..
The one I gave my son was covered in white paint and real plaster when i bought it for 15 bucks. I made it look new before I gave it to him. That one would place 10 bullets in a ragged hole at 50 yards, with iron sites.
He still has it, but won't trade it back the weasel! ;D
