Yea. Same category as hand grenades. I found that out a few years ago. I found a Streetsweeper in a storage conex on the property of the place I was renting. The landlord asked if I would clean out the box and if there was anything I wanted in there feel free. It was full of just junk mostly, but I didn't have an issue mucking it out. The weapon was in a wood crate all the way in back. Stored in cosmo plastic and oiled canvas. It was pristine. BUT, she was an older original, and had no stamp and no way to get one.

I wasn't going to take a chance on federal prison time so I turned it in. Afterward I lamented a bit. Should re-stored it and buried her somewhere ...for emergencies. But what a thing to find. After I figured out what I had though, all I could think of was getting caught with it. That wasn't a pleasant vision.

I've heard rumors you could file with the ATF to get a serial. In RARE cases they supposedly issue serials #s that you have to have stamped on, probably by a FFL holder who can manufacture... Or by a gunsmith (same thing?) Again, only rumors....

Not a Saiga, or Armsel, They're imports. You can make one no problem, if you file the right forms with BATFE, but you can't buy a true Street Sweeper or Saiga with the large cap and the one you make would just be a clone (assuming you're not violating any copyright or patents).

Problem is you can make pretty much anything that isn't a "Machine Gun" as a private citizen if you file the right forms, but most people don't want to make one, they want to own one.
